If you are considering having wooden blinds installed in your home as a window covering there are certain things that one needs to take into consideration. Certainly wooden blinds not only add a more natural look to a room's dcor but also can add a touch of elegance as well.
There are a number of benefits one can gain from having wooden blinds fitted to windows in a home. As well as stopping too much or no light from coming into a room, during the winter months they will prevent cold from entering the room. Also these blinds ensure your privacy.
You have a large selection of different colored wooden blinds to choose from today. So finding ones that actually complement the decor of a particular room in your home should not be that difficult.
There are certain makes of wooden blinds which do not have any holes in them and so when closed the slats actually fit more tightly together. Plus you need to be aware that the sizes of the slats in the blinds themselves vary greatly and can be little as 1/2 inch wide. So you need to be aware that the size of the slats can make a considerable amount of difference to the way a room looks plus how much warmth they are able to retain in a room. The other thing is you can get these blinds with either horizontal or vertical slats.
Another thing to consider is whether you want to open and close the blinds yourself or whether this is done using a motorized system. The cost of purchasing ones with a motorized system are quite a bit more than the manually open ones, but work well for large windows or those that are hard to reach.
Another decision you need to make before buying these types of blinds is what wood you want them to be made from. They come in a wide variety from natural and distressed Basswood, to Oak, Cherry, Cedar, Bamboo or Faux wood. Therefore take some time to compare the various styles and look at what is required to care for them once they have been installed.
Generally wooden blinds come in their natural colors, but if you want to change that so that they match the decor of your room you can either paint or stain them. If you are going to paint them use muted colors otherwise you may find that the elegant effect you were trying to achieve in a certain room has vanished.
Certainly if you have a room in your home where you have lots of wooden furniture then installing wooden blinds can further enhance the overall beauty of that room. Plus if you find that you cannot get the exact color of blinds to match the furniture then using a simple stain should help you to get what you need.
